Another question concerning running calf pain!?
Ok, on Sunday night I started running. For starters ran 16 times around the track, stopping at each round for no more than a minute to breath and drink. I thought not surprisingly well considering my size (5'6 bodybuilder type, a very nice 180 lbs.) So let my body heal for a couple of days and when I returned to the track last night I thought I needed it up a notch and back in twos before taking a little time … It was as if someone had pressure pumps blood around my cow! I could only go about 5 times and had to stop. It was so bad. I'm very neat, but the calf pain was unreal, thats more extreme than any weight training safely. So many items are out there regarding the implementation of weight loss and the photos always show a thin person who can run forever (much respect). I need a program running that is my weight training and size into consideration. Help please! PS-My body is not rigid by any means. I train in taekwondo.
Be sure to stretch your calves, quadriceps, hamstrings, etc. before and after running. Hold each stretch for at least 10 seconds (the way you are describing things, I would hold them for more like 20) and do not bounce! If it bounces, it will damage the muscles. There's a picture of my favorite calf stretch on this page Website: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.the-fitness-motivator.com/images/calf_stretch.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www. the-fitness-motivator.com / stretches.html & H = 400 & w = 244 & sz = 13 & tbnid = tROqo0tTSegeCM: & tbnh = 124 & tbnw = 76 & prev = / images% 3Fq%%% 3Dcalf 2Bstretches 26um% 3D1 & start = 2 & sa = X & oi = images & ct = image & cd = 2
